What a powersports dealer website costs

Every vendor in powersports will book you a demo before they will discuss money. Some of that is genuine — pricing does vary with the size of the store — but most of it is a negotiating position, and it costs you three meetings to find out the number was never going to work.

The honest version is short. There is one product and every dealer gets all of it — no packages, no feature held back to sell you later, and no version that is worse because you are a single store. What moves the number is how much of it there is to build and run, which in practice means rooftops and OEM lines. That is quoted per dealership rather than read off a card, so a figure printed here would be wrong for most of the people reading it. Ask on the first call and you will get a real one.

What you will still pay someone else for

Marketing and media buying

The website is one purchase and the media is another. Most dealers buy both — the case for that is on the Digital marketing page — but the platform runs perfectly well on its own with the agency you already have, and nothing is held back if you keep them. Wheeler Advertising can run the media as a separate engagement, and the case for buying both from one team is on the Website + Marketing page — but it is an option, not part of this.

Managed SEO services

Platform-level technical SEO and on-page SEO for every core page are built in. Ongoing keyword campaigns, link building and content retainers are not — if you need those, keep or hire an agency.

Paid media management

We do not buy your Google Ads or Meta media. Scout gives your agency cleaner conversion data to work with; it does not replace them.

Add-on landing pages beyond the standard build

Your core pages and inventory landing pages are included. Bespoke campaign microsites are scoped separately.

Your DMS, CRM or marketplace subscriptions

Scout integrates with them. The contracts stay yours, which also means you keep them if you ever leave us.

Working out whether it pays for itself

Start from three numbers you already have rather than from the invoice: unique leads per month, your closing rate on web leads, and your average gross on a major unit. In powersports the lead count moves faster than the gross per unit does, so the first number is usually the one worth pushing on.

The powersports case we publish is a single-location Honda franchise that went from 86 unique sales leads a month to 256 in its first month with us. Apply a lift like that to your own three numbers rather than to ours — a store at 40 leads a month and one at 400 are having very different conversations about the same platform.

Then look at it from the cost side, which is where a site pays for itself least visibly. What a lead costs you is the traffic your media buys divided by the leads it produces. That dealer’s sessions actually FELL, from 22,287 to 20,719, while leads roughly tripled — the lead-form rate went from about 0.4% of sessions to about 1.2%. Less traffic, three times the leads, so the cost of each one fell to roughly a third.

That is arithmetic rather than a discount: convert more of the traffic you already pay for and the cost per lead falls by the same proportion. It is also the part that never shows up on our invoice, because it lands on the media budget you are already spending.

Bring them to the demo and we will do the arithmetic in the open, against a real figure for your store — including the version where it says stay where you are.

Why there is no number on this page
We price per dealership, so a single figure would be wrong for most of the people reading this — and a made-up “from” range would be worse than saying nothing. What we will do is give you a real figure for your store on the first call rather than after three meetings.

Questions

Pricing questions

Why is there no price on this page?+

Because one number would be wrong for most dealers reading it, and an invented "from $X" is worse than an honest explanation. You will get a real figure on the first call rather than at meeting three.

Does carrying more franchises cost more?+

Yes, and it is the driver most specific to this category. Each line needs its own inventory handling, landing pages, routing and program compliance work.

Is migration included?+

Moving your existing site across — content, inventory and a 301 redirect for every old URL — is part of bringing a dealer onto the platform. How much work that involves depends on the size of your current site, which we establish on the first call.

What is the contract length?+

Ask on the call — and ask every vendor you are evaluating what happens to your site and your domain if you leave. Those answers are far more revealing than anything else in the commercial conversation.

Do you charge for traffic overages?+

No. Hosting, CDN and bandwidth are included. A good month should not produce a larger bill.

What happens to our data if we leave?+

Inventory, leads and domain are yours, and your DMS, CRM and marketplace contracts were never ours to hold.
